At Beach Road we believe that baptism doesn't "save" you. Only through the grace of God and by acceptance of Jesus Christ as the Son of God as your personal Savior can anyone be saved.
We believe baptism is a public testimony of what Christ has done in your life as a Christian. It is a beautiful, symbolic representation of death (standing in the water), burial (being immersed in the water), and resurrection to a new life (being raised out of the water). Jesus was baptized (Matthew 3:13-17) and by being baptized you are making the puplic declaration that you are following Christ's example and His command.
The Baptist Faith and Message states:
"Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper."

During our "Church, why bother?" series, Pastor James spoke about the need for baptism by immersion. The video to the right explains our position on baptism with Biblical justification.

We are excited when children make the decision to be baptized. To help during their decision, we ask parents to download our baptism workbook, Next Steps, for your child to complete. It is a great way to make sure your child understands what baptism is all about and it explains the steps you and your child need to take.
